About 50 % of the Asian population does not have a fold or crease in the area above the eyelashes. The addition of a crease can make the eye appear larger and the face more delicate. This procedure can also make it easier for women to apply eye makeup.

THE PROCEDURE

In most Asian blepharoplasties, a fold is created in the upper eyelid. A fine incision is placed where the crease would normally appear. Next, a thin crescent of excess skin, fat and muscle is removed. The incisions are closed with very fine sutures.

AFTERCARE

On the first evening after surgery, you should rest quietly with your head elevated. Tightness, swelling, numbness and changes in vision are normal for the first few days. For a week after surgery, you should avoid strenuous activities and sports, as well as activities that dry the eyes, including reading, watching TV, wearing contacts and using a computer. Wearing dark glasses will protect your eyes from wind and sun.
