Aquamid

Reshape Your Face... for 7 Years... in 30 Minutes

Aquamid™ is the latest innovation for treatment of wrinkles, 'smile lines', furrows and scars on the face as well as lip augmentation. It is a new generation injection similar to Restylane™ and Esthelis but has some major differences in terms of it's treatment profile. Foremost, it lasts at least seven years hence avoids the need for repeat injections. Secondly, it has additional uses not seen with Restylane™ such as nose bridge augmentation (enlargement), cheek and chin augmentation and for the correction of facial deformities and scars.

How does it work?

Like Esthelis™, Aquamid™ “fills in” lines, wrinkles, scars etc with a gel-like substance which actually “sticks to” the underlying tissue and hence cannot “move”. Because it is also very elastic, it looks completely natural.

How is the treatment administered?

Aquamid™ is given by subcutaneous (under the skin) injection. To avoid discomfort and render the treatment completely painless, a local anesthetic injection is given. The treatment takes between 15 and 30 minutes, depending on the area treated.

What can I expect after treatment?

The results are instantaneous. You can literally watch your wrinkles and lines disappear in front of you. You will look younger with dramatically softened wrinkles and furrows and fuller, more defined lips, nose or higher cheekbones. And you don't have to return for further treatment for at least seven years.

Is it safe?

Yes. Aquamid™ was developed by a Danish medical company and, to quote from the Scandinavian Journal of Plastic Surgery: Aquamid™ has been used in plastic and cosmetic surgery for more than 10 years. The total number of patients treated with Aquamid™ is about 30,000 world-wide. Minor side-effects were observed in 1-2% of patients. These minor side-effects were transient (lasting less than 24hrs) resulting in redness and swelling. Because it is not a protein, it is impossible to be allergic to Aquamid™. In fact, Aquamid™ is made out of the same inert material as contact lens are made of so its proven safety for use in the eyes has stood the test of time.
