Hollywood’s current favorite anti-aging craze, the “Vampire” beauty treatment combines sterile micro-needle dermal stimulation with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy in order to boost collagen production, energize stem cells and improve circulation. As well as plumping up the skin and giving you a youthful glow, it can help improve the appearance of acne scars and wrinkles, tighten open pores, and even out the tone and texture of sun-damaged and discolored skin. At ARC we offer three types of “Vampire” treatments:
• 6 ml of pure PRP • Microneedling • Injection
• 6 ml of pure PRP • Microneedling • Injection • 2 ml Dermal Fillers
VAMPIRE THREAD LIFT
• 6 ml of pure PRP • Microneedling • Injection • 10 Ultra V Pull Cogs
What are the treatments like?
Our Vampire Facial uses 6ml of PRP, which we obtain by collecting a small amount of your blood (approximately 4 teaspoons), placing it in a sterile test tube and spinning it in a centrifuge to separate the platelets. After your face is numbed using an anaesthetizing cream, we spread the PRP (which is a golden color, not red) onto your face and use fine needles to push the PRP into your skin. We then inject the PRP into “problem” areas to further increase volume, decrease lines and improve the appearance of any scarring or discoloration.
The Vampire Facelift complements the rejuvenating effects of the Vampire Facial by introducing a dermal filler such as Juvederm®, Restylane® or Teosyal® into the treatment. The filler restores the youthful shape of the face and helps to prolong the beauty-boosting effects of the PRP therapy.
The ARC Vampire Thread Lift combines our Vampire Facial with a non-surgical facelift technique called a Thread Lift to deliver maximum results. After harvesting the PRP, we insert ten bio-compatible and bio-absorbable Ultra V Thread Pull Cogs under your skin. We then inject the PRP along the thread-insertion lines to enhance the collagen and tissue producing effects of the threads.
Is PRP therapy safe?
PRP treatment is a tried and tested therapy that has been used by medical practitioners for over 30 years to accelerate the healing of wounds and burns, and help sports stars—including Tiger Woods and Rafael Nadal—recover from injury. Because PRP is a product of your own blood, there is no risk of you getting a transmittable infection and a very low risk of an allergic reaction.
How long do the treatments take?
The Vampire Facial, Vampire Facelift and Vampire Thread Lift all take approximately 1.5 hours from start to finish, including the PRP harvesting process.
How many treatments will I need?
To get the best results, we recommend 3-5 initial treatments every 4 to 6 weeks, then maintenance treatments every 6 to 12 months. The effects of the Vampire Thread Lift will last for a year or longer, depending on the condition of your skin. You can also extend the longevity of the Vampire Thread Lift with top-up PRP treatments (Vampire Facials) as above.
Are there any side effects?
Following a Vampire Facial or Vampire Facelift your skin may be slightly tender to the touch and appear pink for a few days, but mineral powder make-up can be worn the next day. There also may be some minimal bruising and mild swelling 24 to 48 hours after the treatment. You can expect there to be more facial swelling following a Vampire Thread Lift, but it usually subsides in around three to five days.
What kind of results can I expect?
The full results of a Vampire Facial are not immediate, but many patients report that their skin looks smoother and more refreshed straight away. Over the next 2 to 4 weeks, lines will begin to be less noticeable, and your skin will start to look plumper and have a healthy glow.
After a Vampire Facelift you’ll see instant results—plumper skin and improved facial contour. Over the next few months the PRP therapy will give you that youthful glow, even tone and smoother skin.
You’ll notice a difference straight away after a Vampire Thread Lift, with the full lifting and firming results visible after 3 months. Also, your skin will start to look healthier, smoother and plumper due to the PRP treatment.
What about aftercare?
Keep treated areas clean, and take extra care when washing and caring for your skin for the first few days following the treatment. Arnica cream can be applied gently to bruised and swollen areas. There is no need to keep out of the sun, but it’s important to wear a good-quality sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30.
Following a Vampire Thread Lift, try to avoid making extreme facial expressions for 2 weeks and be gentle with your face—no facial massages for at least a fortnight, and no laser or radiofrequency rejuvenation treatments for 3 months. When lying down, keep your head elevated and, if possible, sleep on your back. Also, to prevent the chance of infection, we advise no swimming for 24 hours after your treatment.
